Tales from The Social Club: Food and Games at 8-Bit Bites

At The Social Club this week, I met the group at 8-Bit Bites, a restaurant located in the East Village. What was notable about this restaurant was there were over 10,000 video games that could be played right from our table. The interior of the restaurant was also much smaller than I expected.

For the most part, I watched other group members play the games. I did play one game myself (a fighting game) vs. one of the other group members. I won two out of the three rounds we played. But more I was interested in seeing the variety of different games displayed on the screens such as mini golf and Cal Ripken Jr. Baseball.

The food and drink were good as I ordered a hamburger and apple juice. A challenge I had at this location was the music was played at a high volume and I have ultra sensitive hearing. I overcame this challenge by wearing noise cancelling headphones and earplugs. Juliette, one of our group co-leaders, and myself also asked one of the workers there to lower the volume.

Towards the end of group, I watched some of the group members and Juliette play Mutant Ninja Turtles video game. The game consisted turtle people fighting some large white thing (it looked like a ghost in my opinion).
