Position: Life Skills Coach / Senior Life Skills Coach

Type: Independent Contractor (1099), part-time; client needs vary, daytime availability preferred

Location: Primarily in-person in NYC, with some virtual sessions possible
Compensation: commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience

  • Life Skills Coach: $50-70/hr

  • Senior Life Skills Coach: $70–$90/hr

 

At Kate Libby Coaching, we believe independence looks different for everyone — and we’re here to help young adults define and achieve their version of success. We specialize in individualized support for executive functioning, social skills, independent living, employment, and education.

 

Our clients are diverse, dynamic, and often navigating life with Autism, ADHD or similar neurodivergent profiles. We also serve clients without formal diagnoses who benefit from structure, skill-building, and compassionate coaching.

 

We are seeking a dedicated, neuro-affirming Life Skills Coach to work with clients in their homes and out in the community. This is a collaborative role where the coach and client partner to pursue the client’s goals together while fostering sustainability, autonomy and general wellbeing.

 

What You'll Do

Independent contractors engaged as Life Skills Coaches may:

  • Meet with clients in person (homes, community, office) or virtually, as agreed.

  • Provide individualized, person-centered coaching.

  • Collaborate with clients to set and track realistic, achievable goals.

  • Teach and reinforce practical skills for daily living and personal growth.

  • Maintain clear, professional session notes for each client.

  • Communicate promptly and respectfully with clients.

  • Share resources and strategies that support client progress.

  • Track and invoice for services provided per agreement terms.

Qualifications

Life Skills Coach

  • 2+ years relevant experience in coaching, education, or related support roles.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience working with neurodivergent clients.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and self-management skills.

  • Cultural humility and trans competency; commitment to inclusive practice with diverse populations.

 

Senior Life Skills Coach

  • 5+ years relevant experience with a proven track record of supporting neurodivergent adults, including those with Autism.

  • Advanced degree/licensure preferred in mental health counseling, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated skill in adapting approaches for complex client needs.

  • Experience mentoring, training, or developing programs.

  • Cultural humility and advanced trans competency; proven experience applying inclusive practices to support transgender, gender-nonconforming, and other marginalized clients.

 

We welcome applications from:

  • Professionals with backgrounds in mental health counseling, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology.

  • Artists, educators, and other creative professionals who demonstrate deep attunement to the needs of neurodivergent adults.

 

Additional Details

  • This is a fee-for-service engagement; contractors are paid only for billable services performed.

  • Hours are not guaranteed and may vary based on client demand.

  • Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and expenses.

  • This is an independent contractor role (1099). It is not an employee position, and no benefits are provided.
